What players are learning

Learn to move behind the ball and direct a controlled forearm pass to a partner.

01

Set it up

  1. Pair players 8–10 feet apart.
  2. One partner begins with the ball.
02

Run the drill

  1. Partner A tosses an easy ball near Partner B's midline.
  2. Partner B moves and passes to Partner A, who catches only for the first minute and then passes back to keep a continuous rally.
  3. Complete 10 controlled passes, then switch the first feeder.
03

What to say

  • Move your feet before reaching.
  • Hold your platform early.
  • Finish balanced toward the target.
04

Make it harder

  1. Remove the catch and rally continuously.
  2. Then have Partner A serve a short ball over the net so the passer reads it.
