What players are learning

Improve first-step movement and balanced passing outside the body's midline.

01

Set it up

  1. Set two cones 8 feet apart.
  2. Place a target near the net or center of the court.
02

Run the drill

  1. A player starts between the cones.
  2. The coach points left or right, then tosses near that cone.
  3. The player shuffles, stops, and passes to the target before returning to center.
03

What to say

  • Beat the ball to the spot.
  • Stop before contact.
  • Keep shoulders calm and platform simple.
04

Make it harder

  1. Randomize left and right and initiate with a short serve so the passer reads instead of anticipating.
