Family: First-contact passing Choose up to three drills, then let the builder complete and time your practice.
What players are learning
Connect platform angle with a clear target instead of simply sending the ball upward.
Set it up
- Make groups of three: tosser, passer, and target.
- Place a hoop 8–12 feet from the passer.
Run the drill
- The tosser sends five playable balls to the passer.
- The passer scores one point when the target can catch the ball while standing in the hoop.
- Rotate all three jobs and repeat.
What to say
- Face the ball, angle to the target.
- Quiet arms; guide with your legs.
- Call the ball before contact.
Make it harder
- Have the tosser serve a short ball instead of tossing so the pass begins with a read.

Where everyone starts
Angle the passer toward a visible target, not straight back to the tosser.
