What players are learning
Learn to hit to a spot you chose before you approached.
Set it up
- Place cones in the deep cross-court corner and down the line.
- A live setter or coach feeds sets.
Run the drill
- The hitter calls line or angle before approaching.
- They must hit the called target.
- Score three for the called cone, one for in-bounds anywhere.
What to say
- Turn your shoulders where the ball is going.
- Call it, then commit.
- Same approach either way.
How to score it
3 points for hitting the called cone area, 1 for in-bounds anywhere, 0 for out or into the net.
Make it harder
- The coach calls the target as the set goes up, so the hitter has to adjust in the air.
