Improve first-step speed and recovery without using punishment conditioning.
Set it up
- Place four cones around a center base position.
Run the drill
- A coach or partner points to one cone.
- The player moves with the correct shuffle or drop step, touches the cone, and recovers.
- Work for 20 seconds, rest for 20, then switch.
What to say
- Push the floor away.
- Keep eyes forward.
- Recover under control, ready for the next ball.
