What players are learning

Learn to keep a bad set in play instead of forcing a swing.

01

Set it up

  1. The coach delivers deliberately imperfect sets.
  2. Hitters wait at the pin.
02

Run the drill

  1. Sets come tight, low, behind, and off the net.
  2. The hitter puts the ball in play any way they can.
  3. Run 12 bad sets. Only errors count as failure.
03

What to say

  • A bad set does not mean a bad swing.
  • Take what it gives you.
  • Get it over and stay alive.
04

How to score it

12 bad sets. Errors are the only failure; anything in play is a success.

05

Make it harder

  1. Add a blocker so the hitter must use the block deliberately.
