Set it up
- Defenders in their base positions.
- The coach at the net with a ball cart.
Run the drill
- The coach mixes hard-driven balls with soft tips.
- Tips drop into the seam behind the 10-foot line.
- Run 15 balls and count only the tips recovered.
What to say
- Watch the hitter's arm.
- Slow arm means tip.
- Feet moving before it lands.
How to score it
15 balls. Count tips recovered — hard balls don't count in the score.
Make it harder
- Reduce warning by disguising the tip until contact.
