What players are learning

Learn to get a swing even when the pass is bad.

01

Set it up

  1. Full team on court.
  2. The coach initiates with a ball that forces a bad first contact.
02

Run the drill

  1. The setter cannot get the second ball, so someone else takes it.
  2. The team must still generate an attack, usually a high outside ball.
  3. Run 12 starts and count attacks instead of free balls.
03

What to say

  • Bad pass, high outside.
  • Never send a free ball over.
  • Somebody call the second ball.
04

How to score it

12 out-of-system starts. Count how many end in an attack instead of a free ball over.

05

Make it harder

  1. Restrict the team from sending anything over on two contacts.
