What players are learning
Learn a float serve by earning distance one stage at a time.
Set it up
- Start players at the 10-foot line, not the end line.
- Each player needs a ball.
Run the drill
- Serve from the 10-foot line until you make five in a row.
- Move back to mid-court, then inside the end line, then the end line.
- Only move back after five consecutive makes.
What to say
- Firm hand, no wrist snap.
- The ball should not spin.
- Contact the middle of the ball.
How to score it
Which stage each player reaches. Nobody is embarrassed for being at stage 2 — this is a build.
Make it harder
- Once at the end line, add zone targets.
