What players are learning
Learn that where your dig goes matters as much as keeping it up.
Set it up
- Tape a target zone at the setter's spot.
- The coach hits from a box.
Run the drill
- Defenders dig to the target, not just up.
- Score three for the target zone and one for a ball kept alive.
- A dig that crosses the net scores zero.
What to say
- Dig it to the setter.
- A dig that goes anywhere is a free ball for them.
- High and inside the court.
How to score it
3 for a dig into the target zone, 1 for a ball kept alive, 0 for a dig that goes over the net or dies.
Make it harder
- Add a live setter who must actually set the dig.
