What players are learning
Learn to get low around your hitter before the ball is blocked.
Set it up
- The team runs an attack with a block on the other side.
- The coach or a blocker blocks the ball back on purpose.
Run the drill
- As the hitter approaches, the team collapses into a low arc around them.
- Players play the blocked ball back up.
- Run 12 blocked balls and count recoveries.
What to say
- When your hitter jumps, you get low.
- Every single time.
- Close to the hitter, not behind them.
How to score it
12 blocked balls. Count how many are recovered.
Make it harder
- Continue the rally after the coverage dig.
