What players are learning
Learn to win a one-on-one battle at the net.
Set it up
- One hitter with a live setter on one side.
- One blocker on the other side, no defense.
Run the drill
- The hitter tries to score and the blocker tries to stop or touch.
- The blocker scores two for a stuff and one for a touch.
- The hitter scores two for a kill and one for a ball in play. Race to 10.
What to say
- Take a side and own it.
- Do not try to cover the whole net.
- Hitter, make them move.
How to score it
Blocker gets 2 for a stuff, 1 for a touch. Hitter gets 2 for a kill, 1 for a ball in play. Race to 10, then switch.
Make it harder
- Hitter may tip, forcing the blocker to make real decisions.
