What players are learning

Learn to block and then immediately become a hitter.

01

Set it up

  1. A blocker at the net with a coach on a box opposite.
  2. A live setter behind them.
02

Run the drill

  1. The blocker blocks a ball and lands.
  2. They immediately pull off the net to their approach position.
  3. They attack the next set. Run eight full cycles.
03

What to say

  • Land, turn, pull off.
  • The block is step one, not the whole job.
  • Get all the way off the net.
04

How to score it

8 cycles. Both the block and the attack have to be executed.

05

Make it harder

  1. Add a second block before the transition, so it's block-block-attack.
